ADVENTURE INTO EQUATORIAL GUINEA
Day 01: Malabo
Arrive at Malabo International airport; receive by Global Bush representative, transfer to the hotel Ibis for dinner and night. (D)
Day 02: City Tour
After breakfast, pick up for full day city tour of Malabo, located at the Northern end of the Island of Bioko. Visit the old colonial architecture characterized by thick walls, wrought-iron work, stylish shutters and blinds, the cathedral square, the Spanish-Equatorial Guinea cultural center. Go for lunch and continue visit to the peninsula where the decaying hotel Bahia sits, take in the beautifyl scenery afforded by the Malabo city. Return to hotel Ibis for dinner and night. (B, L, D)
Day 03: Malabo Vicinity
After breakfast visit the pristine crater lakes of Lago Loreto and Lago Biao in Northern Bioko. Lago Biao is known for the little egrets and dabchicks (little grebes) that are found around the lake as well as palm nut vultures, turacos, and the spectacular blue plantain-eaters that are often seen on the walk to the crater. The region is also known to host several species of monkeys, including both the black Colobus and the red-eared guenon. Later visit nearby cascades where three separate branches of the Iladyi River plunge over the edge of a 250 m (800 ft) canyon. As you stand in moss-draped forest at the top of the largest waterfall, you look out across undisturbed forest to the other cascades. The region is also an important agricultural center, providing the cool climate and rich volcanic soil required for the cultivation of tomatoes, beans, and other vegetables. Afterwards return to hotel Ibis for dinner and night. (B, L, D)
Day 04: Bata
After breakfast, fly for 45mins to Bata the largest city in Equatorial Guinea. Located on the mainland, Bata was formerly the capital of Equatorial Guinea and is now the main transportation hub for the continental portion of the country. Bata is a wide and quite city surrounded by white sand beaches, a really pretty city, with beautiful Spanish colonial buildings, relax and enjoy what the beach has to offer you, dinner and overnight in hotel Ibis. Day 05: Monte Alen National Park
After breakfast, pick up for departure into the deep forest to the Monte Alen NP, although not as famous as other National parks in West Africa, this park is noted for its biodiversity. The guide will take you around to explore the virgin rainforest, with great chances of spotting Elephants, crocodiles, gorillas, chimpanzees, mandrills, giant frogs and many different species of birds, return to bata for dinner and overnight at the ibis hotel. Day 06: Basacato Del Oeste
Early morning after breakfast, drive to the airport for departure to Malabo, upon arrival drive to the town of Basacato del Oeste in central Bioko; visit its vicinity, dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 07: Luba
After breakfast, travel to Luba the second largest on the Island of bioko best known for its several beaches and its port, travel back to Malabo for dinner and overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 08 Malabo
After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer to the airport for departure flight back home. (B)

Day 01: Malabo

Day 02: Malabo City Tour
Breakfast; full day discovery Guinea’s capital, visit the city center with its colonial buildings dating back to the XIXth century when the Spanish King bought the island to the Portuguese Empire. The Spaniards named the capital Santa Isabel and started colonizing the island from this port city. In a clear day one can see Mount Cameroon (4.080mts.) in the African Continent. Many slaves were sent from Cameroon, Nigeria, and Benin to Malabo (hub) and from there to Brazil and Cuba. Places to visit: Independencia square, the Neo-Gothic cathedral, and Semu market, a colorful place where different ethnic groups gather to commerce. (B, L, D)
Day 03: Malabo – Batete – Luba – Arena Blanca – Malabo (1h)
Breakfast, departure to the town of Batete, called Maria Cristina by the Spanish. It is situated on the top of the south massif. Its main curiosity is a church that dominates the region and is among the few religious buildings in the world built in wood. During the walk through the village we see different cocoa driers. Continue our route to Luba, the second largest city on the island of Bioko. Before independence, was called San Carlos. Located 52 km southwest of Malabo, very close to the city, Boloko Bay , landed Arjelejos Count in 1778 , to take possession of the territories of the Gulf of Guinea , on board ships ” The Santa Catalina ” , ” La Soledad ” and the brig ” Santiago ” . In Luba, the sea is smooth, quiet and deep wide beaches, most jet- black sands .Lunch in town, then we head bound for the White Sand Beach, considered the most beautiful of the island. Located a few kilometers from the city, is the only white sandy beach that exists on the island of Bioko and is certainly destined to be a favorite place of resort of the country. After the visit, we sail to Malabo. Transfer to hotel for dinner ad overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Malabo – Moka (2h)
After breakfast, depart to the village of Moka, located on the heights of the volcanic massif in the south of the island of Bioko, the small town of Moka is named after a king who ruled the island in the nineteenth century Breakfast in Malabo. This is a mountain region of Bioko Island and an interesting place to appreciate the island’s endemic forests, nice panoramic views, and get direct contact with the original Bubi ethnic culture. Installation in the hotel and depart to visit one of the most exciting sights of the island of Bioko, Iladyi or Ilachi Waterfalls, impressive for its location, where three separate branches Iladyi River water fall over the edge of the canyon about 250 meters . Picnic lunch, trekking through forest and plains to the edge of a beautiful and special place, where you can see how running waterfalls flows down the slopes of the mountain. Duration: 3/4 hours. Distance: 6km, dinner and night in Moka Hotel (B, L, D)
*Note: For a few 100mts the path is difficult and there is a stream where the water can reach the knees
Day 5: Moka – Lake Biao – Moka
Breakfast, morning excursion to Lake Biao, currently located in an ancient crater. This lake served as sanctuary and retreat to the high priest of the Bubi, the ‘Mote’. During the journey and if we are lucky we can make out some different species of primate found in the area of the lake. On arrival, enjoy its beauty, picnic lunch at the lake and then trek to Lake Biao is a trip through the woods with a combination of plains, ferns and trees to the viewing of the beautiful crater lake. The more intrepid can walk from the crater to the edge of the lake. Time: 5/6 hours to the viewpoint or 6/7 hours to the lake. Distance: 10km. return to Moka in the afternoon and traditional Bubi dinner, overnight in Moka Hotel. (B, L, D)
Note: It’s not a particularly difficult path but it is a steady climb up to the crater
Day 6: Moka – Riaba – Malabo (3h)
Breakfast, departure to Riaba also known as Concepción, a colonial town located in the east coast of the island and was founded by Portuguese explorer Ramos Esquivel in the XVth Century. It is considered the first European settlement in Bioko and has just 300 inhabitants due to the lack of economic opportunities for the youth. Walk around the town and visit some colonial constructions. After lunch drive to Malabo for dinner and overnight in Ibis Hotel.
Day 7: Malabo
After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer to the airport for departure flight back home. (B)
