Day 04: Benue National ParkBouba Ndjida National Park

After breakfast pick up for 1hr 30mins drive to Bouba N’djida National Park. Covering an area of 220,000hectares, the remote and beautiful park includes open, wooded and bush savanna and includes the rare Derby eland, the biggest antelope in the world. Here, you will also find Buffalo, lion, elephant, leopard, wild dog and the almost extinct West African Black Rhino However, given the remote nature of the park, the thick savanna and the lack of tracks, means that game viewing is much more challenging here than in other parks in Africa. However, the park itself is beautiful and you will have the wilderness to yourself. You will stay at the Campement de Boubandjida, a small well run camp reminiscent of rustic bush camps found in East Africa. Whilst the accommodation is in very simple stone rondavels, with mosquito nets, it is in a great location, in the heart of the park, on the banks of the Lidi River. There is a good restaurant and a great bar area and boma outside where you can enjoy a cold beer around the campfire that makes the most of the setting, with baboons along the riverbanks as well as a resident leopard. Overnight Bouba N’djida Lodge. (B, D)

    Day 05:Bouba Ndjida National Park

After breakfast, spend time exploring the wildlife accompanied by a tracker. The idea is to assist a researcher if any as they monitor lion movements in the park, attending calling stations and if lions are needed to be darted and collared, you will help with the subsequent biopsy. However, this may be a long waiting game and you need to be prepared for long day starting at dawn until gone midnight, depending on the movements of the animals. There is also the chance to enjoy traditional game drives in the park to ensure that you take full advantage of the wildlife found here. Overnight Bouba N’djida Lodge. (B, D)

Day 06:  Bouba Ndjida – Maroua

After breakfast, depart from Benue and head to Maroua (212kms), the road is long but pleasant; you will often come across herds of cattle crossing the road, upon arrival in the evening rest, dinner and night in hotel Relais Port Mayor. (B, L, D)

Day 07: Maroua – Waza National Park

After breakfast, drive to Waza upon arrival whole day game drive in the park viewing lions, giraffe, elephants, antelope, water hogs, birds (the abundance of birds species makes the park a great reserve in Cameroon), after evening safari, dinner and overnight in Campement de Waza.(B, D)

    Day 08: Waza – Maroua – Douala
