  • Day 01: Yaoundé 

    Arrival at Yaoundé International airport; received by Global Bush representative, transfer to hotel Merina for dinner and overnight.

    Day 02: Yaoundé - Mefou National Park - Yaoundé

    Early morning after breakfast, visit the zoo at Mvog-betsi pick before departing to Mefou National Park which is some 40km out of Yaoundé city, to see a variety of primates, including large apes chimpanzees, and gorillas which are far too big and powerful for playful games, drills and mandrills in semi-captivity. The western lowland gorillas move their huge bodies slowly but gracefully through the bush and gazing calmly into the eyes of onlookers. The park is also rich in bird species and has electrified enclosure, return to Yaoundé for dinner and night in Hotel.

    Day 03: Yaoundé – Akono (Cave of Akok Bekoue)

    After breakfast, pick up for drive to Akono and visit the grotto of Akok a good place for pilgrimage situated some 13km from Mbalmayo. Equally visit the Cathedral of Akono and the grotto of Okkombe a place for meditation. Return to Yaoundé for dinner and overnight.

    Day 04: Yaoundé – Ebogo Ecotourism site

    After breakfast, visit to Ebogo a magical site located in a quiet green of the rainforest that offers visitors various attractions, including canoe rides on the river Nyong, the discovery of the "Big 300 year old Tree" about 12 meters in diameter, the capture a variety of butterflies, traditional fishing of various species of fish breeding tortoises in the succulent flesh, trekking in the forest on the nature trail, a vision of wild birds including parrots grouped up in an island; later in the evening return to hotel for dinner and night.

    Day 05: Yaoundé – Baffoussam – Foumban

    Breakfast, depart for 289km drive to Baffoussam, upon arrival visit the small mystical House, believed to be about 300 years old and contain all magical warfare tools used in protecting the community in times of war. After lunch continue to the city of Foumban with numbers of vestiges that attest to its past glory,  visit the Sultan’s Palace, the Statute of king Njoya, the Royal Palace Museum, the Central Mosque, the Arts and Traditional Museum are all Testimonies of the Bamoun history. This town is known for its great cultural diversity, dinner and overnight in Foumban.

    Day 06: Foumban – Bafut – Bamenda

    Pick up after breakfast and depart for 152kms drive to Bamenda in the English speaking North West Region, upon arrival, drive 10km to Bafut which is one of the biggest and most beautiful of the Tikar chiefdoms in the North West Region and follow up their celebration rights. Visit the evil forest where the evil people where sacrificed in those days. Visit the tall stones standing on graves of people who were buried alive. See the six hundred year old "Talking Drum", visit the museum and watch the traditional masked Juju dances. Drive back to Bamenda centre for dinner in a nice restaurant at Commercial Avenue then return for check into hotel for overnight.

    Day 07: Bamenda – Wum – Lake Nyos – Fundong.

    After breakfast, drive past the flood plains to Bafut to Wum, upon arrival visit the "dreaded Lake Nyos" which exploded in August 1986 and killed about 1700 people and many animals. There are efforts being made by the government of Cameroon, with support from the international scientific community to eliminate the gas in order to forestall future disasters. Visit Subum, the village which was abandoned by those who survived in 1986, but is now regaining life with its former inhabitants, who became refugees in other far-off villages, returning. After lunch continue to get to know their coping strategies. Visit to the Menchum Fall, Lake Wum and the Aghem Palace where the elderly Queen Mothers thrill the visitors with their exceptionally beautiful folklore and dance, dinner and overnight in a tourist motel.

    Day 08: Fundong - Laikom

    After breakfast ride through the beautiful hills to Fundong, it enables one to see far and wide the underlying areas occupied by sprawling villages with many beautiful farmlands; one may discover villagers on their farms. While in Fundong visit the highly venerated traditional ruler. His Kingdom is one of the largest in Cameroon.

    A ritual initiation is performed on any visitor willing to get into the interior of the palace, where the mystical antiquity called Afo-Akom is found. This piece of carved object was stolen to one western museum, and while there it caused a lot of havoc by knocking down other antiquities, due to the fact that it was not feeling comfortable where it was. It was later brought back to Cameroon. It is believed to have much magical power which protects the entire Kingdom from any mishap. The ritual initiation will also confer on one the honorary citizenship of this Kingdom. And will have the possibility of discussing with the traditional ruler, dinner and overnight in a Tourist Home Fundong.

    Day 09: Fundong - Tubah Upland – Ndop - Ndawara Upland Tea Estate.

    Visit the warehouse of an antiquity collector at Kedjom-Keku before going to the Tubah Upland. The collector will interpret the sociocultural significance of his antiquities and also give a brief history of the village. Continue to Ndawara via Kumbo to get to know all the different sections of the upland tea enterprise, the largest in Central and West Africa, such as nurseries, young and mature plantations, workers harvesting, and all aspects of the transformation process. Have a taste of the tea before leaving the factory, ride through the beautiful hills for overnight in a modest hotel in Kumbo.

    Day 10: Bamenda – Dschang - Manengouba – Melong

    Breakfast; depart for Melong via Dschang, upon arrival continue to Manengouba and drive up to the summit of the mountain which has a beautiful plain that is surrounded by an undulating chain of hills inhabited by the sedentary nomads locally called Fulani who uses the area for grazing their cattle and wild horses. Continue Trek down to the twin lakes (Male and Female), take some pictures and listen to the mystery of the lakes, where no leaf from the trees surrounding the lakes is found in the lakes. After picnic, visit the Ekom – Nkam waterfall about 80 m. high which has served as a decor in a certain Film scenes, Tarzan and drive back to Melong for dinner and night.

    Day 11: Melong – Limbe

    Breakfast; pick –up for departure to Limbe, stop at the Limbe Wildlife Centre and watch the playful antics of the resident monkeys and gorillas. Continue to the last mount Cameroon lava flow solidification site, in Bakingili, visits the site and then head for the hotel Seme beach at Limbe. Lunch; there is a possibility of all sporting activities and games, relaxing and swimming, lounge on the black volcanic sands of this quiet Seme beach, return to hotel Seme for dinner and overnight.

    Day 12: Limbe – Bimbia

    After breakfast, visit to the Slaves route in Bimbia, the site of an old slave trading port where you can learn about the colonial times, where slaves were assembled for exportation to Europe and America during the slave trading period. There are some historical attractions still present in Bimbia today. They include; Old German Wharf where ships anchored for the embarkation of slaves, chains used on slaves and abandoned Ship, Nichol Island (site that harbored slaves prior to their journey to the new world) etc, head back to hotel Seme beach for dinner and overnight.

    Day 13: Limbe – Kribi – Pygmy Village

     

    Breakfast; relaxing at beach and depart for kribi upon arrival continue to the pygmy’s village where you will take part in the daily life activities of the pygmies, forest people living in harmony with nature, food gathering, folklore, dancing etc. It is also an opportunity to discover a people who undergo changes but remain faithful to their ancestors, dinner and overnight in tents and/ or in the house of a resident.

    Day 14: Pygmies Village – Lobe Falls – Kribi

    Breakfast: departure for kribi via the Lobe waterfalls (the only place in the world where a waterfall enters the Atlantic Ocean through a water Cascade). Visit of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with fine and golden sand that will provide you with smooth and pleasing feelings. Visit of the turtles’ museum. Lunch, Live it up in Kribi - a glitzy, palm-fringed playground for the rich, and relax on the beach while soaking up the glorious African sun, return to hotel for dinner and night.

    Day 15: kribi – Yaoundé 

    Breakfast, pick up for drive to Yaoundé and continue to the International Airport for flight back home and end of our tour services.

  • Day 01: Douala

    Arrive at Douala International airport, received by Global Bush representative, transfer for check into Hotel Bano for dinner and overnight.

    Day 02 - 03: Douala – Bamenda Highlands

    Pickup early in the morning after breakfast for departure to Belo (a small town about 70km away from the main town) via the Bamenda highlands which is only a remnant of their former glory when Gerald Durrell first visited the area and wrote about it in his books the Beufut Beagles and the Overloaded Ark, the area was a solid rainforest, now the birds cling to tiny remnant forest patches for survival.  Arrive in Belo and trek up to the Ijim mountain forest (the largest remaining montane forest area in the Bamenda Highlands) where we will go for the rare and highly local Bannerman's Turaco tracking (a bird species found only in this rain forest and nowhere else in the world), the Fernando Po Swift, Banded Wattle-eye, Bangwa Forest Warbler, Green Long tail, Cameroon Pipit, Cameroon Sunbird and Bannerman's Weaver. Other great birds we will look for in this region are Western Green Tinker bird, Green-backed Woodpecker, Black-collared and Grey Apalis, Newman's Starling, Brown-capped Weaver and Thick-billed Canary. Return to town and night in Modial hotel. (B, L, D)

    Days 04 - 05: Bamenda – South West (Mt Kupe)

    Our drive today will take us through agricultural lands to the base of Mt Kupe for two nights at the village of Nyasoso in tents. Mt. Kupe and the close-by Bokossi Mountains are covered mostly in pristine forest, the latter on more gentle slopes and only recently explored. The area holds some of West Africa's most wanted birds, many of which are listed as endangered and threatened. Those which will be high on the list of wanted species include White-throated Mountain Babbler, Mt. Kupe, Green-breasted and Montiero's Bush-shrikes, Ursula's Sunbird and Bate's Weaver. Other species we will search for are Cassin's Hawk-eagle, Pied and White-crested Hornbills, Naked-faced, Bristle-nosed, Yellow-spotted and Yellow-billed Barbets, Brown-eared, Gabon and Elliot's Woodpecker, Sabine's Spinetail, Forest Swallow and Square-tailed saw-wing, Black-throated and Black-capped Apalis, Tit and Green Hylia, Black Bee-eater, Bare-cheeked and Bar-tailed Trogon, a host of greenbuls, warblers and flycatchers and many more weavers, twinspots, negroficnhes and waxbills. The area is home to 14 species of primates and we might encounter Drill and Chimpanzee in the deep forest. (B, L, D)

    Day 06:  Mount Kupe – Mundemba

    We'll take our time driving to Mundemba, from where we will access the legendary Korup National Park. Roadside birding can be very productive, and we'll make numerous stops. We may see our first Spotted Greenbul, White-thighed or Piping hornbills, Black-headed Waxbill or Long-legged Pipit, night in Mundemba. (B, L, D)

    Day 07 - 08:  Mundemba - Korup National Park.

    We have 2 full days to explore the lowlands of Korup National Park. This vast wilderness area offers an excellent chance for Red-headed Picathartes, which will be our main target species, and we will have to spend one night Camped deep in the forest in order to be at the cave where these birds roost in the evening and early morning. We will also see numerous species of greenbuls and other forest Green-tailed and Common bristlebills, Black-capped and Pale-breasted Illadopsises and the diminutive Forest Robin. Other highlights may include Blue Cuckooshrike, Black-casqued, Yellow-casqued and Red-billed Dwarf hornbills, Bare-cheeked Trogon and Blue-headed Wood Dove, nights in Camp (B, L, D).

    Day 09: Korup National Park – Buea (Mount Cameroon).

    After some early morning birding we transfer to the town of Buea, at the foot of Mount Cameroon. The better part of the afternoon and most of the next day will be spent on the mountain and we hope to find several of the mountains endemic specials, although for this will entail a lot of stiff climbing if we are to get the Mount Cameroon Speirops, or have a slight chance of the Mount Cameroon Francolin. But other species may include the endemic Little Oliveback, Cameroon Olive and Western Montane greenbuls, and Cameroon Mountain Robin, dinner and night in Buea.

    Day 10: Buea – Douala

    Early morning after breakfast, drive to Douala and continue to the Douala International Airport for flight back home.
